Hello fitness-loving friends! How is your week going so far? We’ve been trucking along with the usual weekday madness over here. I’ve been doing my best to sneak in workouts when life allows and wanted to share a little glimpse into what workouts are looking like around here lately as part of my Week of Workouts series.

Today’s blog post is a recap of last week’s workouts which emphasized strength training above all. I get in a lot of movement in day-to-day life as a mom so when I have the chance to really focus on a workout, strength training tops my list!

Week of Workouts: August 2022

No workout for me on Monday!

  • Tuesday: Leg Day Garage Workout

I set my alarm for 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday because I was determined to knock out a workout before the boys were up. I joined Ryan in the garage and completed a leg day workout while he biked next to me. It was a back-to-basics kind of workout that focused on classic strength exercises that targeted my glutes, hamstrings and quads. I wasn’t feeling squats on Tuesday morning and simply omitted them — one of the beauties of creating my own at home workouts from time to time!

  • Wednesday: Biceps/Triceps/Shoulders Workout

Oh how I love an arm day workout! On Wednesday morning, I was up at 5:30 a.m. again for another garage workout and this time targeted my biceps, triceps and shoulders in a throwback PBF workout I shared a while back. It’s a serious upper body burner!

Thursday: Rest

No workout on Thursday!

  • Friday: Streaming Burn Boot Camp Upper Body Workout (Back + Chest Emphasis)

I shocked myself by working out in our garage around 1:30 p.m. on Friday. I always say that if I don’t workout in the morning or at least by noon, it’s not happening. Naptime was my only workout window of the day on Friday and since I felt oddly energetic after lunch, I headed into the garage to work out while Rhett napped. Ryder was my workout buddy and played in the driveway and around me as I streamed an upper body Burn Boot Camp workout. The emphasis was primarily on chest and back exercises (lots of chest presses, flyes and rows) which is exactly what I was looking for on Friday!

Saturday was another rest day.

  • Sunday: Leg Day Workout + 3-Mile Family Walk

The past two Sundays in a row, I’ve oddly enjoyed getting in a quick workout before the day gets rocking. I followed a drop set leg workout I had saved in the notes section of my phone except I omitted the jump squats from the above workout. It wasn’t anything fancy but it was just what I was looking for on Sunday morning. We also went for a 3-mile walk around the neighborhood as a family before lunch!

Question of the Day

What does your workout routine look like lately?
